His mother knew he had a special connection with dogs when at the age of eighteen months and still in diapers, he was unmovable when confronted by the snarling growls of the family German Shepherd Dog. With its history of attacks (Kingston, Jamaica 1967- a different view of family pets in those days), Troy would daily stare ‘Dino’ down at mealtime. Despite the multiple warnings ( and sometimes spankings ) to leave the dog alone while it thrashed over its food...the young Troy must have innately known that this behaviour was unacceptable for a family pet. So, daily, he would stand his ground and somewhat effortlessly compel the 80lb dog to surrender.
Clients have also witnessed this special connection with nature. Seeing him actually call a fox from the forrest and making the wild animal sit and stay right in front of him. This taking place while holding the leash of an Olde Bulldogge who ironically was being trained for his dog aggression.
Even the occasional starling will land on his pocket and enjoy a “walk” in the park. Then insisting on perching on the steering wheel for the car ride back home.
After intensive analysis’ of pack behaviour and what he learned from his faithful “son”, Samson, the Top Dog Training Program emerged. His word of mouth success over the last 20 years, lends him the credibility to be recognized as a k9 expert throughout Canada, The United States, and The United Kingdom.
Along with the rare ability to call wild animals in nature to him, his canine insight and instincts have allowed him to assess and guide his clients, on a situational dog-by-dog basis that evolves with each experience. With his ‘dog level approach‘ and concise direction, Troy will move his clients into the Top Dog position in the eyes of their dog. Repairing and restoring healthy, natural relationships.
